Salaam alaykum 😊
Hope you guys liked the story ‘Mismatched Priorities’πŸ˜‰

In this modern world, music has become an essential part of our lives. It is unavoidable, it seems to be everywhere we go. It is being played, listened to or chanted by everyone -sadly, Muslims included 😟

As Muslims , here are 10 reasons why we shouldn’t listen to music :

1. ALLAH said so πŸ’¬

This is quintessential in Islam. If Allah has forbidden us from doing something, why then should we even move near it ? And at the end of the day, anything forbidden is for our own good. The Quran says ” and of mankind is he who purchases idle talks( I.e music, singing) to mislead(men) from the path of Allah..” 31:6
Submitting & Worshipping to Allah is the essence of our creation βœ”οΈπŸ’―
Pleasing Allah should be our utmost priority in this dunyaπŸ‘ŒπŸ‘Œ

2. The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said so πŸ’¬

” From among my followers, there will be people who will consider illicit intercourse, the wearing if silk, the drinking of alcoholic drinks & the use of musical instruments as lawful…”
Subhanallahi , see how right our Prophet is & he said this over 1400 years ago. Then, nobody understood what he meant , but look around now, it isn’t a sight to behold πŸ‘€πŸ‘€

3. It Weakens One’s Faith πŸ’”

How ? you wonder.
To put simply, you’re listening to haram & if you’re listening to things that are forbidden in Islam, what happens to you ?
Your faith will weaken because you unconsciously begin to accept the music & it’s haram entirety as the norm. Enough said.

4. It Germinates Hypocrisy πŸ‘ŽπŸ‘Ž

You don’t drink , yet you listen to music that promotes it .
You don’t do drugs , yet you listen to music that promotes it.
You don’t have casual sex, yet you listen to music that promotes it.
You don’t care about the dunya, yet you listen to music that promotes it.
You believe in Allah & prophet Muhammad, yet you listen to music that they forbade.
So aren’t you being an hypocrite ?πŸ˜‘
Hypocrisy ultimately leads to destruction 😟

5. It Leads To Indulgence In Major Sins βœ–οΈβœ–οΈ

As you start accepting what you’re listening to, before you know it, you start acting out what you hear. And bamπŸ””πŸ”•, you’re committing a huge load of sins. We all know what music is about these days πŸ˜’πŸ˜’

6. It Causes Noise Pollution & Health Problems 😒πŸ˜ͺ

I honestly do not understand how people can cope with extremely loud music. I used to be like this & I ignored all my mum’s warnings on the dangers of loud music.
Alhamdulilahi, I’m waayyy past that ☺️ .
Often, people who listen to music complain of headaches. Like duh!, you’re gonna get a headache from all that racket.

7. It Contributes To The Upsurge Of Jinns πŸ‘ΏπŸ‘ΊπŸ‘Ή

This leads to people being possessed by Jinns.
Yes, that happens.
I still feel chills run through my body when I remember the stories my optician told me about people being possessed.

8. It Distracts One’s Mind from Acts of Worship & Remembrance of Allah ❎
How are you going to remember Allah when you’re listening to what He has forbidden ? The fact that you’re even doing what He has forbidden means you’re not remembering Him.
We waste our time listening to music when we can pray to Allah or just do dhikr .
How many of us find it easy to learn the lyrics of a song but find it very hard to learn a chapter of the Quran ?
A wild guess. Most of us are guilty of this.

9. Having Wrong Role Models 🚢😿

Who remembers Hannah Montana ?
If you live under a rock, Miley Cyrus has changed -and not for good.
This dunya isn’t the best of both worlds so just Stop 🚫 ‼️

This is a very mild example compared to the others I have in mind. Often, we aspire to be like other people, who live very empty & superficial lives. And we talk about them so much that one who wonder if they knew us πŸ’

10. Music Doesn’t Calm Your Mind πŸ’†πŸ™Ž

Contrary to what you think, really.
Quran says ” verily, in the remembrance of Allah do the hearts find rest ” 13:28

So when you say the music calms your mind, have you forgotten about the Quran ?

To stop listening to music is NOT easy ( from personal experience, I know this).
There’s temptation everywhere. But trying is all that matters & in Sha Allah , it will get easier.
πŸ‘† Constantly seek refuge with Allah from shaytan so you don’t fall into his slimy traps .
πŸ‘† Delete your songs. You might get them again then Delete it again until you’re finally free. I did that 3 times before I finally got over it.
πŸ‘† Listen to Quran & Nasheeds & Spoken Words ( Vocals Only though)
πŸ‘†Listen to Islamic lectures (well, you’re learning about Islam)

For Nasheeds& Spoken Words, you can check out people like Kamal Saleh, Ibrahim Jaber, Boona Muhammad ,Castillo ( this is my fav β€οΈπŸ’œπŸ’―πŸ‘Œβ˜ΊοΈπŸ’žπŸ’• his poetry? is in Arabic ), Muslim Belal , just to mention a few, on YouTube .
May Allah make it easy , Ameen ❀️

  1. Jazaakallah for the reminder..I agree,it’s not easy but what matters is that u try..may Allah make easy on us Inshaa-Allah πŸ’–
